The Cure performs at Osheaga at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Friday, August 2, 2013.
Residents of the south shore suburb of Montreal that sits across from Jean Drapeau Park are sick of the constant noise from music festivals, car races and fireworks competitions, complaining it is ruining their quality of life.
The park, which is home to this weekend's Osheaga Music Festival, is home to a never-ending schedule of events and festivals that run over many summer weekends.
"There's always something," said St. Lambert, Que., resident Andre Brodeur. "The Grand-Prix, Osheaga, Heavy MTL (a heavy metal music festival), the fireworks festival.
"When we moved here, there was a Metallica show that terrified my kids. They couldn't sleep."
Some residents told QMI Agency that they try to get out of town on the weekends rather than deal with the constant noise.
St. Lambert resident Guylaine Harrison said that as loud as Osheaga gets, nothing riles her quite like the high-pitched noise of the Formula 1 cars during the Grand-Prix.
"I'll put in headphones and play my music, and I try to stay in the house," said Harrison, who suggests that the city plant more trees in an attempt to block the sound. source : torontosun
